Like health care itself, the U.S. health insurance system is different from your home. It is private and there are usually a variety of choices. Issues to be aware of are:

o That you often get what you pay for. Be aware of low cost plans that provide limited benefits.
o Insurance usually does not cover all costs. There are often deductibles & co-pays that need to be paid by the student.
o There is paperwork associated with working with an insurance plan. It will require claim submission and interaction with the insurance company.
